Wildlife

There is an abundance of wildlife in Belize. Be sure to keep an eye out while hiking in the rain forest, taking a river cruise up the Monkey River or heading to the Mayan Ruins at Lamanai Archeological Site. The Belize Zoo has a large collection of indigenous wildlife that has either been rescued or nursed back to health following injury.

Nearby Villages

Enjoy dining and activities in the nearby villages of Placencia, Maya Beach or Hopkins. You can also take a day trip to Dangriga or Belmopan for some shopping or local flavor. For even greater adventure consider a trip to Gallon Jug, San Ignacio, Orange Walk or even Corozal for an overnight stay or so.

Artisans and Their Crafts

Local artisans produce some beautiful works from paintings and weavings to wood carvings using local hardwoods and accessories made from sea shells. Visit the local shops and roadside stands for a truly unique experience. You will also find a Mayan Co-op at the entrance to Cockscomb basin, a short drive from Green Tower House.

Some of the Best Diving In the World

Belize is renowned for its World Class Scuba Diving. The second largest Barrier Reef in the world is home to some fascinating underwater inhabitants. Enjoy the Sharks, Turtles, Rays, Eels and a huge assortment of other fish and coral formations. Immediately after full moon in April, May and June is the best opportunity to dive with the elusive Whale Shark.

Attractions While Visiting Green Tower House

Mayan ruins, waterfalls, hiking trails and rivers are scattered throughout Belize. Go cave tubing in the lazy river, hiking the trails or swimming in the fresh water pool at Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary. For a little more adventure, take the short trip to Mayflower Bocawina National Park and try out the 2 ½ mile zip line tour or rappelling down one of the waterfalls. The view of the coast from the Antelope Falls trail is an absolutely breathtaking site.
